The unknown composer Winslow Leach dreams of a great career and presents one of his compositions to the mysterious record tycoon Swan. However, the latter deceives him by passing off the music as his own in order to open his new rock palace "Paradise". In an attempt to prevent the scam, Winslow burns his face and loses his voice.
