A story about growing up in times of war: Players take control of the young commander Claude Wallace, the exceptional heavy weapons engineer Riley Miller, the hot-headed Darcsen Raz or the ice-cold sniper Kai Schulen, among others.

Together they will get to know the painful reality of war - but will their friendship survive the frosty battlefield?

The next-generation lightning combat system: The "BLiTZ" combat system, which consists of turn-based strategy as well as role-playing and 3rd-person shooter elements, returns to the battlefield. New features include an explosive new class called the Grenadier, numerous offensive/defensive battleship support options, a unit's chance of a "last-stand" action before death, and more. In addition, the player fights the imperial threat with more units and on larger cards than ever before.

New class - Grenadiers fire explosive ammunition from mortars to reach enemies in cover or elevated positions. You can also intercept enemies in cover as long as the target is in an ally's field of view. During the preparation, you are unprotected.

Frosty danger with deadly charm: Snow adds a new tactical challenge, but can also be used for your own benefit. Footprints in the snow reveal the position of enemy patrols. Blizzards, on the other hand, rob all foresight and create exciting game situations when interacting between hunter and hunted.

Canvas aesthetics: The hand-drawn style typical of the series has been redesigned according to the latest canvas graphics, making it look more beautiful than ever. Inspired by watercolour compositions, the CANVAS graphics engine blends visual elements of reality and imagination to create an expressive world full of colorful emotions.

The return of a legendary composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto, the legendary composer of the Valkyria Chronicles series, returns to provide the game with an impressive orchestral score.
