After his childhood marked by racism, Malcolm initially leads a criminal life. In prison, he meets the black Muslim Baines, through whom he begins to educate himself and come to terms with his origins. After his imprisonment, he became a political, seditious speaker and activist.
Directed by Spike Lee, the film drama movingly captures the life story of civil rights activist Malcolm X and powerfully reflects on the social unrest and political upheavals of the 1960s. Lead actor Denzel Washington received numerous awards for his performance and was nominated for an Oscar®.
