Persecuted by the Inquisition and surrounded by merciless swarms of rats, Amicia and Hugo must learn to understand and trust each other. Against all odds, they are fighting for survival in this merciless world.

France in 1349. The black death rages in the empire. Amicia and her little brother Hugo flee from the Inquisition through villages devated by the plague. Along the way, they must join forces with other children and use fire and light to make their way through hordes of rats. Their destinies are closely intertwined, and only this can help them fight against the unimagined horrors they face.
