Anni (Martha Haberlandt) has recently moved with her family to the tranquil village of Gross-Hottendorf and dreams of finally getting her long-awaited horse of her own. But the wish remains unfulfilled. On top of that, she has to put up with taunts from Pia (Felizia Trube) and Bine (Amely Trinks) at the new school. She finds comfort from Lorenz (Franz Krause), who lives on the farm of his uncle Pieter (Peter Lohmeyer) and with whom she becomes friends. One day, when she seeks refuge in the nearby forest, she can't believe her eyes: in front of her stands a wild horse that even has a heart-shaped blaze on its forehead! There is immediately a magical, intimate connection between Ponyherz, as she calls the wild horse, and Anni. But then horse thieves appear and want to steal and sell the herd in which Ponyherz lives. Will Anni and Lorenz succeed in catching the thieves and bringing the wild horses back to freedom?
Based on the popular children's book series PONYHERZ by successful author Usch Luhn, which has so far conquered the hearts of not only horse-loving children in a seven-figure total circulation, the long-awaited film adaptation has finally been created. Directed by Markus Dietrich (DIE MUCKLAS UND WIE SIE ZU PETTERSSON UND FINDUS KAMEN), PONYHERZ is an exciting family adventure about friendship, courage and helpfulness, which will make children's eyes light up and not least convince with a particularly authentic approach to horses.
