Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in Nora Ephron's wonderful romantic comedy about two people who are united by fate. Hanks embodies Sam Baldwin, a widowed father who gets an involuntary appearance on a radio show due to a ruse by his worried son. As a result, his house in Seattle is flooded with letters of comfort from thousands of listeners. Meanwhile, editor Annie Reed (Ryan) feels called to meet Sam by Sam's story and her romantic streak.
