Imagine if there was a machine that transferred their memories to others... The scientists Lilian Reynolds (Natalie Wood) and Michael Brace (Christopher Walken) succeed in a sensational invention: a device that is able to record thoughts, feelings, and experiences on a magnetic tape and transmit them to a foreign brain. When Lilian, who has a heart condition, suffers a severe heart attack, she decides to document her own death. But their unscrupulous financier, industrialist Alex Terson, sells the device to the military, where it is to be used for brainwashing. At the same time, he orders the tape with Lilian's death experiences to be kept under lock and key. Michael desperately tries to get access to the "Project Brainstorm".
Special effects pioneer Douglas Trumball (2001: A Space Odyssey) delivers his second directorial work after SILENT IN SPACE. The result is a fascinating mixture of conspiracy thriller and visually stunning science fiction, which is carried by a terrific cast. In addition to Christopher Walken (GOD'S ARMY), Hollywood legend Natalie Wood (WEST SIDE STORY), who died under mysterious circumstances during filming, can be seen in her last role.
